Busy Weekend Part 2

This family and I prayed so hard yesterday afternoon when the sky was completely black at 6 in the afternoon full of thick black rain clouds. Literally after my last shot it started to come down hard (well for Utah rain).

It was so wonderful to spend the early afternoon with this beautiful family and to have dinner with them. I was in shock to see how big the boys (and not the top two cuties) had gotten in the past few years! I feel so old!

This fun couple came down from Idaho to have their engagement pictures taken and we were not about to let that rain scare us away. By 6:00 pm there was a big break and beautiful light and we went and fought mosquitos off, laughed and got some great shots.

I warned Mr. Kris I was going to post how they met. These two attend BYU Idaho. I have heard many stories about the culture out there and this one made me giggle. :D I asked them "how did you meet?" and he said "I was knocking on doors trying to meet girls, her apartment door was open, we used it to start talking to them and the rest is history". ahahahahaha They went knocking on doors to meet girls! To be young again..

Darling Wedding

I could go on and on and tell you how wonderfully sweet this bride and her siblings are. They are full of personality but nothing but respect for people. I had the pleasure of photographing her brother Yader's wedding in January and I had a great time spending Friday with them again.

I suffer from allergies, mostly to pets which is why I don't have any and seldom visit anyone with pets. I know it offends people because they love their pets, but I am sorry even dogs make me very ill. Well, I was visiting my aunt Debbie who owns a dog that KILLS me every time I am around him. I thought that by morning I would feel better, when heading out at lunch time to the temple to photograph this wedding I felt just as sick I decided to take the advice of a friend and take BENADRYL for the first time ever.... by the time I started shooting this wedding I was HIGH as a bird...falling asleep standing up and the drive back to Provo for the reception was a dangerous one to say the least... so note to self: do not take benadryl! ahahaha

This white car pulled up behind me, I look through my rear view mirror and see this beautiful woman walking to my car. She had this calmness about her that just inspired me. I had a great time taking these pictures and she made it just way to easy for me. She was nominated for the single parent sessions I offer for free by one of my Facebook followers and I am so glad we were able to help Virginia see how beautiful she is.

This bottom one is looking way to glowy for my taste, just know it does not glow on my normal screen. LOL :S

Touched my heart and soul

I don't know how to write this post without sounding sappy, overemotional or weird to some but I will write it with the up most sincerity. I met this family through a dear friend. This family has had their trials and when I did this lovely couples engagements I thought they were just simply adorable. They were kind, polite and so grateful. When I met the family t his Saturday at the temple I was overwhelmed. This overwhelming feeling with the spirit confirming to me they were all very special. All very humble. Very grateful. They don't know this but I observed a lot, and I learned a lot. They touched my heart and soul by being who they are. My friend was in charge of decorating the chapel and I was in love with what she did with the help of neighbors, friends, family and young woman. All who were so eager to help this family make this night perfect. Seriously, just an amazing day.

Classy, fun and beautiful. Absolutely loved shooting this wedding along side Jessica White. Let me tell you two photographers is the way to go. Specially when the photographers get along as well as Jessica and I do! I hadn't met Michael until the day of the wedding, I was pulling up to get my car parked and he was SO kind and friendly. I was impressed immediately! I have so many more of this session I want to post so maybe in between editing 12 session I can sneak some more. Update, A Wedding and a beautiful Senior

I've been getting emails and texts about my post from last month about considering a different career path. I love the art of photography but find my weakness to be the business aspect of it. As I have learned a lot of photographers/artists struggle with this as well. It got a little frustrating to me and photography lost its fun. After my post I was outpoured with advice from people from all sorts of professions. Most were people I didn't know so it was great to get blunt feedback. I still have to meet with some amazing photographers who have offered advice as well but I have been sick. With the feedback I have already implemented some changes and have started the re-evaluation of my business. I needed to hit rock bottom to be able to start fresh. Don't count me out yet means - expect some changes all for the best, simple changes, life changing, positive and productive. :D I have not slowed down and if anything have gotten very busy with photography. I am very excited and feel rejuvenated!

Changes

At a crossroad... and I've made up my mind. Sometimes tough decisions are necessary in order to have sanity. Right? Yesterday was a big day for me with the ending a big chapter in my life. That made me re-evaluate my entire life. Sit down and think, pray and ponder. Make tough choices. Come to terms and in touch with reality. I feel like an American Idol contestant that has a terrible voice, the people that love them support them and rally them on with their signs and tears of support. But Simon is there to keep them grounded. They storm out all mad and say "next season", "I'll prove you wrong". Well, not me. LOL No more next seasons for me. I am taking my passion for photography and keeping it as a hobby. I will be doing limited sessions until end of May unless it's been already scheduled. Thank you for being a fan of this page which I will keep. I am not sure what I will do with my website at this point the blog and this I will for sure keep up since it costs nothing to maintain. I am not sure, but I will know more in the next couple of weeks. A smart business woman I am not. ;)

Go4Pro Leah Remillet

A little over a week ago as I loaded images onto my computer I decided to do some blog hopping. I haven't really blogged hopped lately so I was excited to see what everyone was up to. One of my most favorite photographers Amy Wenzel had a link to a website called Go4Pro, she had been interviewed and had such a sweet recommendation for this photographer named Leah who shares photography tips with everyone so I decided to link over to the site.

Two hours later, I was so delighted in the wonderful information this photographer has carefully found and then shared with the web. She is always giving credit to the photographers whom she learns from and who impress her in some way. At one point I found a post she wrote about an anonymous person who left her a comment about her grammar (I hope that person never visits my blog because they will die right there and then with mine ahahaha) and I felt so very sad for her. She is being so kind to share her knowledge with everyone, yet all this person could comment was about their dislike for her grammar. I left Leah a comment, lo and behold she linked to my blog and left ME a comment on my Amber post (you know that beautiful girl who posed for me at the abandoned house) and totally made my day. She then emailed me and asked if she could share my images. I was so excited! This morning I linked over to her blog to see what she is up to and guess what... she shared my images! I wanted to share some questions about the Mini sessions being offered right now: Can adults be added to the session, this is a children shoot only if you would like to add additional people it is $25.00 per person. #2 Is there a smaller session/fee being offered, this is the lowest fee that would be offered. Meet Amy, My March Single Parent. Amy and I had booked and re-scheduled her session 4 different times and the weather had us change plans last minute. Yesterday we were excited it looked so promising...that was until 15 minutes before her scheduled time to do the session when it started to rain and turned completely dark. :( But we were able to manage getting a few great shots. Amy was nominated for sacrificing so much for her daughter and being a great example to her friend Viviana.

Adorable Tween

This adorable tween is the sister of one of my past brides. Allie is a hair and makeup artist and last summer we met up at Borders and looked through magazines and chatted about doing sessions that helped us get our creativity out. Allie had this idea with this hair do and last week contacted me about doing a shoot while she was in town. She styled her sister from head to toe and I had so much fun shooting with them. I love how she did the make up (which I find to be soft and age appropriate) and I have to say Allie is one of the sweetest young ladies I have ever met. If anyone is interested in hiring Allie please let me know.

So, a couple of weeks ago I met this gorgeous girl at Nordstrom while window shopping with my bff Cami. She had this amazing style and I so wanted to ask her to do a shoot for me. I am shy about saying to people that I am a photographer so I whispered to Cami my idea and she asked her if she would model for me. When Amber with an excited attitude said yes, I felt like a little kid. We texted some ideas and set up the date. I knew where I wanted to take the pictures. I had heard about this place and had seen so many amazing photographers photos in this abandoned house. I knew Amber would be the perfect model.... AAAAAAAH I love these! Amy Wenzel Workshop GIveaway

One of my most favorite photographers Amy Wenzel and the wonderful people from Iheartfaces are doing a giveaway for Amy's workshop. I would love to go to this workshop but can't afford it at this time, and who knows when I will be able to, so I have decided to enter their contest. Frankly I feel a little silly doing it, I never win anything. LOL But here goes nothing.

My story:

I don't have fancy words to describe my story and I frankly don't know how I have inspired the people in my life. I do know that I am passionate about photography, and I am passionate about the world around me. Seeing wild flowers in a field move my soul. I've been a daydreamer since I can remember. Often I find myself dreaming about the places I want to see and the people I want to meet. I want to photograph the undiscovered. I want to show everyone how beautiful each and everyone of us is. How unique we are.

I love meeting new people and making new friends. In high school a teacher nicknamed me "the social butterfly". I have always enjoyed doing charcoal portraits and painting beautiful oil landscapes but nothing can describe how I feel when I take a picture. My camera allows me to have instant gratification. I haven't always had a world full of fields with wildflowers and the warmth of the sun to inspire, but I have overcome a lot and I share my stories with anyone who will listen. Stories that remind us that in our troubles- we are not alone.

I love giving back to my clients and my community. I am a member of The American Child's Photography Guild and I have been able to serve families with children with cancer, preemie's with little chance of living and babies born stillborn. This year I am photographing one single parent a month. I want them to know that the Lord loves them and I want them to have faith during the hard times. It is my gift to them because I know how lonely it can get as a single parent myself. I am also working with other charity's and shooting two weddings for free for two amazing families who can't afford a photographer. I do it because I want to give of myself, I want to take off a burden from someone in need and I want to bring a smile to their face. I do it because I have seen the darkest of places and have had the blessings of those who gave of themselves to me and passing it on is the way to say thank you.

I am a silly emotional person and I can be found sharing some tears while a bride and her dad share their dance (wishing I had a Father to share that bond with), if a client is feeling self conscious about curious people passing by I will do my "jiggy dance" to get the attention on me and lighten the mood or you will see me laughing at the outrageous things children do while I photograph them.

I am shy about my photography and know I have a lot of learning to do. Going to the workshop will help me improve my work and continue to be able to serve others as well as be able to provide for my son and I. I would be delighted to win and I would be honored to learn but either way, I am happy to share my story.

I photographed this fabulous young lady and her boyfriend Logan jumped in for a few pictures. He was so sweet! And of course I love his name because of my own little Logan. After this session I ran home to go do a jewelry shoot. It was actually a lot of fun. Different from a live subject. Then my bff Cami treated me to my birthday dinner at Carabas YUMMMMMMY! Thank you Cami! Then I spent the night at her house talking about make up. In the morning she drove me to the airport so I could fly to Vegas to meet a friend who was driving from Cali and was too tired to drive the rest of the way home. So I read my book at the Vegas airport "Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins"- FABULOUS books! I can't wait for the third!

This year one of my goals is to give back to the community. Give more of my time to help others. I don't have a lot to give in the financial aspect but I can give of my time. Photography helps me with this. I plan on photographing single parents this year. Parents that will be nominated by others or myself. Here is my first inspiration. Leticia is a beautiful, strong and amazing mother. She is hard working, kind and funny. Fabulously Busy!

I have two more sessions I need to edit and post...my eyes are so tired. I have had a busy week. I love being busy, definitely feel blessed. Sad to say that tonight I went to a viewing of a very kind man that passed away last week in Mapleton. I met him and his family while married to Adam. He was very loved and will be very missed. There are those people in your life that you meet and feel that instant connection with. You just know how genuine they are about their friendship and sweet hugs. They leave a mark in your heart forever. He definitely left his in mine.

During this busy week I was able to shoot this adorable very "new" newborn. I had taken pictures of his big brother when he was born and it was so sweet to be able to do Landon's pictures as well.

I seriously could have taken pictures of this family all day long!

Shot a wedding on Friday for a beautiful couple. It was so quiet and relaxing in the afternoon at the Bountiful temple. I love this family and I was so excited to be a part of this wedding.

I am Loved!

I am overwhelmed right now with the outpouring of love I receive day after day from family, friends and clients. Seriously.

I have days where I feel I am invisible and it's how I like to be. I am a very open person but when going through things I pull back from everyone and keep it to myself. I don't like pitty and I don't want to become the downer friend so... I stay away.

The people in my life however don't stay away and bless me day by day. I get the sweetest emails and texts from people with encouragement. They tell me they have been thinking about me and pray I am ok. They offer me help and words of wisdom. Last week my computer crashed, two people helped me fix it, getting it back into shape and one even bought me a much needed backup hard drive. Others visit me and leave little surprises with my sister because they know how hard life can get sometimes and want to help me. Some send boxes full of fun stuff not even knowing how blessed I would be by using them. And others like the anonymous person who send me a un addressed letter today with a gift card. SO SWEET. I mean so so so sweet. Thank you, whom ever you are. I mean not many people have my new address so I could figure out who you are. But, for now I am just going to say thank you for such a sweet thought!

I have a strong feeling 2010 is going to be amazing for me. With the Blessings the Lord continues to give me and his little workers on my side... and faith...I know life is going to change around.

One of my new goals for this year is to give more of myself to everyone. Serve those who need me. Listen to the small still voice that guides me into making wise choices.

I am very loved and I love all those important loving people in my life.

Fairy Tale Wedding for Marcus and Megan
